The Fayette Alliance
Planning Our World-Class City,
Preserving Our World-Class Bluegrass Landscape
The Fayette Alliance is Lexington’s ONLY land-use advocacy organization that regularly educates and lobbies local government for a sustainable Lexington that benefits all of us.
We believe that preserving and promoting our signature Bluegrass landscape and its related agricultural industries, creating a dynamic and equitable city through responsible development, and improving our infrastructure and environment are key to achieving success here in Lexington-Fayette County. We are an alliance of citizens from the entire community. As a united voice for sustainable growth, we only weigh-in on those land-use issues that have countywide significance. Together we chart our future, and positively impact local zoning and policy decisions—the very building blocks of our community. To date, the Fayette Alliance has worked with city hall to usher over 55 major land-use policies into law.
The Markey Cancer Foundation
Founded in 1978, the Markey Cancer Foundation invests in the people and programs working to discover the cures and to devise new and better treatments to fight cancer. Teachers and research scholars with national and international credentials will provide the margin of excellence for fulfilling the Markey Cancer Center’s great expectation to become a premier cancer center.
To achieve new levels of excellence, the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center must have the most distinguished names in all fields of oncology. The ability to retain, recruit and reward physicians and scientists with international reputations is influenced by our capability to support their teaching and research initiatives. Our partnerships formed in this community have been invaluable.
Over the past 33 years, the Markey Cancer Foundation built the four facilities that now comprise the Markey Cancer Center and funded numerous endowed chairs, clinical and research programs. The Foundation donated the buildings to the University of Kentucky and continues to work to provide the funding for programs, recruiting top researchers and physicians, and finding better ways to assist patients and their families during such a crisis time in their lives.
